Unity Oracle
Terms & Conditions of Entry
The project is open to entrants aged over 18 years old on 1 January 2023.
The project is run by Blue Gaia World Publishers (Project Organiser) a registered business with Australian Business Number 71 613 264 476.
The purpose of the project is to invite authors and artists around the world to submit contributions in the form of artworks and/or card messages to be used in an oracle card deck with a working title of ‘Unity Oracle’. Our vision for the Unity Oracle is to have card artworks and card messages contributed by a diverse range of people from many parts of the world to form an oracle card deck centred around themes of unity, inclusion, diversity, love and peace.
Entries open on 1st January 2023 and close at midnight (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on 28 February 2023. Authors and artists whose work/s are selected for inclusion in the card deck will be notified within 6 months of the closure of the competition. If necessary, the period for submissions may be extended at the Project Organiser’s discretion.
Entrants are invited to submit artworks and/or card messages which will be selected by the Project Organiser (at their sole discretion) for inclusion in a ‘Unity Oracle’ (working title only) to be published in 2023.
The profits from the sale of the Unity Oracle during the first 12 months after release will be donated to registered charity organisations which support unity and diversity. The Unity Oracle will consist of 44 illustrated oracle cards and 44 written card messages which will be printed in a guidebook. The cards and guidebook will be packaged together in a hardcover box. The finished product will be made available for sale through the Project Organiser’s worldwide network of distributors and promoted on the Project Organiser’s website and social media accounts.
There are two types of entry into the competition: Text entries and artwork entries. Details for submission below.
The authors and artists whose works are selected for inclusion in the Unity Oracle will retain the copyright in their work/s. The authors and artists will be sent a license agreement via email granting the Project Organiser the exclusive right to use their selected work/s in an oracle/tarot card set for a period of 6 years. After the initial period of 6 years, if the card deck is still in print in any edition, then the rights to use the work/s in the card deck will persist, but on a non-exclusive basis thereafter.
The authors and artists will receive 4 complimentary copies of the card deck. These complimentary copies will be sent out by the Project Organiser to the address on the author’s/artist’s license agreement at the Project Organiser’s expense. Any local duties/taxes payable in the receiving country will be at the expense of the author/artist.
Entrants in the project warrant to the Project Organiser that they are the sole holders of the copyright/s in any work they submit and that they are free to grant the rights to their work/s to the Project Organiser for the purpose outlined in these terms and conditions.
A single person may submit up to a maximum of 5 text entries and/or 5 artwork entries.
Text and artwork entries can be submitted by members of the public but also by existing authors and artists already published by the Project Organiser and its affiliates.
All entries will be confirmed by return automatic email within 24 hours. If you do not receive this email, please check your Spam folder and then proceed to contact us by email to check on your entry.
The the Project Organiser’s decision about which submissions are successful is final.
The the Project Organiser reserves the right to declare any submission/entry ineligible if in its opinion the entrant has not complied with the terms and conditions of entry.
The terms of use of the successful entrants’ writing and artwork shall ultimately be governed by the license agreement which will be established between the Project Organiser and the entrant, and not by these Terms & Conditions.
Text entries:
Card messages will be between 240 and 300 words in length and the themes of the messages should be centred around unity, inclusion, diversity, love, peace, harmony, balance, acceptance etc. Card messages will ideally be written in such a way as to offer the reader guidance and advice. Participants who submit text entries acknowledge that their text will be edited to ensure cohesiveness throughout the deck and that they will be given an opportunity before publication to approve their edited text should their text entry be selected for inclusion in the Unity Oracle.
Example card titles: Embrace, Go Beyond, Higher Truth, Acceptance, Peace, Trust, Comfort, Inner Power, Strength in Diversity etc.
Text entries should be submitted online with the completed entry form via the Blue Gaia Unity Oracle website page.
A maximum of 5 card messages per author.
Each file uploaded should include the author’s full name.
Please include a biography of 50-100 words and if applicable a single website address for readers to find out more about the author.
Artwork entries:
Artworks can be in portrait format, in either JPEG or TIFF format, and at a size of at least 15cm long on the shortest size at 300 dpi. The file name should include the full name of the artist.
Artwork entries should be submitted online with the completed entry form via the Blue Gaia Unity Oracle website page.
Each file uploaded should include the author’s full name.
Please include a biography of 50-100 words and if applicable a single website address for readers to find out more about the artist.
